Abstract

Anterior open bite is a type of malocclusion of multifactorial origin and is defined as a negative vertical dimension between the incisal edges of the dental arches, which as a consequence ends up exposing the lack of contact between the teeth, lack of lip sealing, mouth breathing, tongue interposition and other problems. This type of condition is very complicated to treat, due to its etiologies that end up affecting the patient's functional aesthetics. The choice of treatment is very important for each type of situation and the orthodontist must be able to have essential knowledge and carry out the correct diagnosis to be able to define which treatment to follow, therefore the collaboration of other professionals such as a speech therapist, psychologist and otorhinolaryngologist is essential. to obtain successful treatment and avoid recurrence. The objective of this work is to present the different forms of anterior open bite treatment during the deciduous and mixed dentition; therefore 48 articles were analyzed according to the subject of choice and only 40 were chosen for the construction of the work, using sites such as PubMed, SciELO and Google Scholar.
